What is Short Stay School?
Short Stay School is a one-term Alternative Provision for KS3 pupils. Pupils, from schools across Portsmouth, are referred through the Inclusion Support Panel (ISP) for our intervention programme. We work, alongside the Turnaround Team, in a relational approach, to develop the social and emotional skills to prepare pupils for successfully returning with the skills to be successful in their mainstream school.
During your time at Short Stay School, we will focus on the following:
- Emotional literacy
- Improving communication skills
- Teamwork
- Identifying barriers to success
- Strategies for success
- Improving self-esteem and self-confidence
What will you do in Short Stay School?
Below is the current Short Stay School timetable. Each morning there is a different offsite activity. All English, Maths and other lessons for the day are completed in the afternoons on the Tipner Campus.
The Turnaround Team:
A member of the Turnaround Team will work with you and your family as your lead practitioner, during your time at Short Stay School. The Turnaround Team will then continue to support you once you are back at mainstream school. For the first term back, you will have weekly mentoring sessions with your practitioner, and they can help support your family too.
